By chance I came across a Watchtower of June 1, 2015, and it has an article in it, “A Legacy That Has Lasted Seven Generations”. It’s written by a guy called Kevin Williams and it starts with this ancestor Thomas Williams (1815-1891) and continues his story down to the present through his family. But hold on a minute, how can this guy’s twelve relatives span seven generations? Isn’t Freddie Franz (1893-1992) and those anointed prior to the 1990ish (say born late 60s) just one generation?

"The sun will be darkened, & the moon will not give its light." How do events like this affect superstitious humans?
by fulltimestudent inthe gospel of matthew's homily on the signs connected with the imagined return of christ, features an element of the sign that seems to really scare superstitious people.. matthew 24:29 reads: "immediately after the distress of those days "'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;".
in the nineteenth century such an even occurred twice in the 19th century and apparently became part of charlie russell's conviction that the end of the world was nigh, charlie, of course, was a 'man of faith' accepting the bible as true and not willing to search for alternative explanation for such events.
if charlie r. had been the sort of person that continually asks why, his life and ours may have taken a different course.. i cannot quote where in his mass of writings he cites those 19th c events (its a long time since i've bothered to be interested in his writings), but mention them he did, and saw these events as proof of the imminent return of jesus christ.. so let's look at these two 19th c.natural occurrences, and compare them to another occurrence some 1400 years ago.. the 19th c events occurred in 1814-16 and again circa, 1883. the reason for the sun and moon being darkened was volcanic activity, easy for us to appreciate, but more difficult for religiously superstitious people.. the wikipedia encyclopedia notes the 1814-16 event: quote.

My sister became a Witness in the late 60s, and was largely responsible for me joining. She got cancer about ten years ago and was a loyal dub right to the end. One thing she said before she died was that she was so disappointed not to be able to witness the signs in the sun and the moon (as per the God’s Kingdom Rules book, page 226). It was the only time I felt so sad for her being a Witness, to have spent her whole adult life waiting for something that was never going to happen.

Jehovah's Witnesses, is there Life after Death?
by JW Answers inthe jehovah's witnesses claim that at death you cease to exist... however, what if they have been taught wrong?
what if the bible explains that there is life immediately after death?
what if more than 8 people in scripture from old testament to new experienced, acknowledged or taught that there was life straight after death?

One thing I can never quite get about all this, because I'm no theologian and had enough trouble getting my head around the JW BS without worring about mainstream BS. But if we have an immortal soul that lives on after we die, why is there a need for a resurrection?

Tag teams of Cart Sitters
by days of future passed inone sunday, we took our dad out for lunch.
since it didn't open till 12:00, we were going to have to kill time.
this restaurant is situated with other businesses around a small park and when we parked, we noticed there was a cart to the right in the park.

My wife is still in touch with an old sister, even though my wife left about 25 years ago. She claims that this sister has told her that they are "not allowed" to approach the public while manning the carts - they can only speak to the public if they are spoken to first.

Brexit Rollercoaster Grinding to a Halt
by The Fall Guy inuk prime minister could be out of her job within hours.

regardless, another referendum on stay/leave looks very likely - now that people can see what the real consequences of a divorce from the eu would be..

Quite right LoveUniHateExams, those referendums were on very different entities, I was being a little facecious. But likewise, II think that the reality of what we're getting now is quite different to what was put before us two years ago. And before this "deal" is imposed upon us it should not only be put before parliament, but before the rest of the country as well.

There doesn't get to be a second referendum on stay/leave simply because you've changed your mind. That's not how democracies and referendums work in the real world.
If that's case, we shouldn't have had this one, this was the second referendum.

I did not say, nor mean to imply, that the result of the referendum (or any election) is invalid. I merely say that the outcome is not “the will of the people” but rather, the will of the most convincing liar. And even when a politician is not lying to get your vote, a lot of things can be done afterwards that are completely at odds with a candidate’s voting supporters. What Labour Party supporter would have dreamed that a Labour Prime Minister would get into bed with a right-wing vote rigging retard and engage in an illegal war, while at the same time claiming that we can’t fund our universities? And by the way, I voted leave, but as Amelia Ashton said, the impact on Ireland didn’t cross my mind, and I didn’t hear anybody warn of the rest of the crap that would happen. On reflection, I have changed my mind, and if given another chance I would vote remain.

I find the expression “the will of the people” interesting. If the public are given the choice between A and B, but because those presenting the cases both options are congenital liars, then what you will actually get is Y or Z. Therefore whichever the public chose from A or B is not what they’re going to get and not want they voted for. And the biggest lie of all was that £350 million one. If sufficient people voted on the basis of that lie, then the will of the people has been misled, so can it really be said that the real consequences of the UK leaving the EU represent the will of the people?
